Solar
Solar PV is a secondary measure. It only goes on if the SEAI survey supports it, and it travels with other approved upgrades, not as a paid add-on.

You can't apply for solar panels on their own through Warmer Homes. SEAI has to include them in the works for your house. For qualifying households they're fully funded when they're approved.
Panels go on a suitable roof. Scaffolding and access are usually needed. The survey checks roof condition, orientation and what else is being fitted at the same time.
If solar isn't allocated, you still get the insulation, ventilation and other measures the house qualifies for. We don't sell solar as a private extra on this scheme.
Who it's for
- Homes where the survey supports solar PV
- Jobs that already include other approved Warmer Homes measures
- Owner-occupiers on a qualifying payment, home built before 2006
What to expect
- Only fitted if SEAI allocates it after the survey
- Panels on a suitable roof, with access and scaffolding as needed
- Fully funded when it's approved. No payment to us
Worth knowing. Secondary measure, only fitted where the survey supports it.
You'll still need to meet the scheme rules. Check if you qualify before you apply.
Questions
People also ask
Are windows or a new heating system included?
Sometimes. If the home survey identifies single-glazed windows, inefficient heating, or supports a heat pump or solar PV, those can be included alongside other approved works. They're not fitted as a standalone job.
What happens during the home survey?
Once your application is submitted, SEAI arranges a survey of your home to confirm exactly which measures you qualify for. It's carried out on their behalf, at no cost to you.
What measures are covered?
We install cavity wall, internal wall, external wall and attic insulation, plus ventilation. Windows, heat pumps and solar PV are sometimes included where a survey shows they're needed, alongside other approved works.
