Heat Pump
A heat pump is a deeper heating upgrade. It only goes in if the SEAI survey supports it, and it sits with other approved works, not as a job you book on its own.

You can't apply for a heat pump through this scheme as a standalone product. SEAI has to allocate it as part of the works for your house. When it's approved for a qualifying household, it's fully funded. There's no bill from us.
The outdoor unit sits outside the house. Indoor pipework and emitters depend on what the survey finds. Your installer will explain access, noise and what needs to be cleared before the start date.
If the survey doesn't support a heat pump, heating work may stay with other approved measures, or not be included at all. You still get the insulation and ventilation the house qualifies for.
Who it's for
- Homes where the survey finds inefficient heating and supports a heat pump
- Jobs that already include other approved Warmer Homes measures
- Owner-occupiers on a qualifying payment, home built before 2006
What to expect
- Only fitted if SEAI allocates it after the survey
- An outdoor unit, plus the indoor work the house needs
- Fully funded when it's approved. No payment to us
Worth knowing. Secondary measure, only fitted where the survey supports it.
You'll still need to meet the scheme rules. Check if you qualify before you apply.
Questions
People also ask
Are windows or a new heating system included?
Sometimes. If the home survey identifies single-glazed windows, inefficient heating, or supports a heat pump or solar PV, those can be included alongside other approved works. They're not fitted as a standalone job.
What happens during the home survey?
Once your application is submitted, SEAI arranges a survey of your home to confirm exactly which measures you qualify for. It's carried out on their behalf, at no cost to you.
What measures are covered?
We install cavity wall, internal wall, external wall and attic insulation, plus ventilation. Windows, heat pumps and solar PV are sometimes included where a survey shows they're needed, alongside other approved works.
